Scala SME

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Scala Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our technology team. The Scala SME will provide expert guidance in the development implementation and optimization of Scala-based solutions and play a key role in supporting complex software projects. The ideal candidate will possess significant hands-on experience with Scala functional programming and distributed systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary technical authority and mentor on all Scala development projects.

Design develop and optimize high-performance scalable applications using Scala.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including architects developers QA and product managers to deliver robust solutions.

Review and improve existing Scala codebases for performance scalability and maintainability.

Develop and maintain technical documentation and best practices.

Provide technical leadership training and support to team members.

Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in Scala and functional programming.

Assist with troubleshooting debugging and resolving production issues.

Participate in code reviews architectural discussions and design sessions.

Qualifications:

Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience with Scala in a production environment.

Deep understanding of functional programming principles.

Experience with distributed systems concurrent programming and microservices architecture.

Proficient in related technologies and tools such as Akka Play Framework Spark and Kafka.

Strong problem-solving analytical and communication skills.

Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.

Prior experience as a technical lead or mentor is a plus.

Hourly Pay Rate:

$65.00 - $90.00 per hour
