Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Electromyography (EMG)/Nerve Conduction Technician to assist in the evaluation of neuromuscular disorders by performing nerve conduction studies and assisting physicians with EMG procedures. This role requires technical expertise attention to detail and a strong commitment to patient care and comfort.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare patients for EMG and nerve conduction studies (NCS) including reviewing medical history explaining procedures and addressing questions or concerns.
Accurately place electrodes and operate specialized EMG/NCS equipment to record electrical activity in nerves and muscles.
Assist neurologists or physiatrists during needle EMG procedures.
Monitor data and waveforms during testing recognizing and troubleshooting artifacts or technical errors.
Document procedures patient responses and any unusual findings or complications.
Ensure equipment is calibrated maintained and functioning properly.
Maintain patient confidentiality and follow infection control protocols.
Maintain accurate logs and ensure timely uploading and reporting of test results.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of a formal neurodiagnostic or electroneurodiagnostic technology training program preferred.
Certification by AAET (American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists) or ASET (The Neurodiagnostic Society) is strongly preferred or may be required by employer.
Experience assisting with EMG/NCS procedures in a clinical or hospital setting preferred.
Knowledge of neuroanatomy neuromuscular disorders and electrophysiological testing techniques.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to comfort and communicate clearly with patients.
Proficient with medical documentation and electronic health records (EHRs).
