How you make an impact
The Accelerator Research & Development Manager has significant responsibility over the design and implementation for the superconducting accelerator and the management of Niowaves accelerator R&D team. The role encompasses leadership subject matter expertise operational excellence and fosters a culture of safety quality continuous improvement and the ideal staff member experience.
What you need to succeed

  • Masters degree in the fields of accelerator physics electrical or mechanical engineering etc. (or equivalent experience)
  • 12 years of experience with accelerators in a research or production environment
  • 10 years of progressive leadership positions in accelerator research or production environment
  • 5 years of supervisory experience including day-to-day activities of a team with demonstrated ability to build cohesive teams establish career development tracks and succession planning
  • Understands how to integrate into a new team/organizationappreciates the history of current state knows how and when to make suggestions and uses just the right pace to reach the improved future state
  • Understands your own communication and learning styles can assess others styles and is able to find the right path to connect the two
  • Strategic thinking with creative and excellent problem solving and decision-making skills with ability to critically interpret and use data to manage risk
  • Proven ability to lead and develop staff and teams
  • Displays excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills
  • Possesses strong organizational and project management skills for self and teams
Great to have
  • Doctorate degree in the fields of accelerator physics electrical or mechanical engineering etc. (or equivalent experience)
  • 15 years of experience with accelerators in a research or production environment
  • 10 years of progressive leadership positions in accelerator research or production environment
  • 8 years of supervisory experience including day-to-day activities of a team with demonstrated ability to build cohesive teams establish career development tracks and succession planning
  • Familiarity with medical isotope production processes radiation safety standards (e.g. ALARA principles) and regulatory frameworks
Other things to know
  • Full-time position
  • The companys standard operating hours are Monday thru Friday 6:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m. with production-related activities requiring 24/7/365 shifts
  • This position will have regular working hours during Monday thru Friday with an expectation of adjusting to working outside of the standard operating hours to meet technical objectives
  • Niowave has multiple locations within the Lansing area and travel between locations is expected in the role
