St Hildas School Gold Coast invites applications for the following Boarding House opportunities commencing January 2026.

1. Boarding House Supervisors

  • Full Time Part Time and Casual positions available
  • Week day shifts : 6.00am 8.30am and 3.00pm 10.00pm
  • Weekend shifts : 6.00am 2.00pm and 2.00pm - 10.00pm
  • Sleepover shifts : 10.00pm 6.30am

Penalty rates apply for weekend work and an overnight allowance applies to Sleepover shifts.

2. Boarding House Student Medical Appointment Escort and General Assistant

  • Week day shifts : Monday to Friday 8.30am 3.00pm

This role encompasses taking boarders to planned medical/specialist appointments throughout the day given they are living away from home. This position will undertake general duties as directed by the Director of Boarding when not attending appointments. Duties will include but are not limited to: general administration tasks covering boarders reception if required assisting with student laundry and supporting our students with duties within our residence.

About the Position

Boarding House Staff are an integral part of the St Hildas School team which cares for the development of the girls. Each employee must have a genuine desire to work with adolescent girls who are living in an environment away from their homes. Our Boarding House staff have a warm approachable demeanour that makes people feel welcome. Empathy and patience come naturally to our staff as well as tact confidentiality and diplomacy when handling sensitive situations.

These Boarding House Supervisor roles are live-out roles with the exception of sleep over shifts.

About You

1. Experience & Knowledge:

  • Experience working with children or adolescents in educational care recreational or community settings
  • Understanding of adolescent development and age-appropriate behavioural expectations
  • Basic knowledge of duty of care and safeguarding practices
  • Understanding of appropriate professional boundaries in residential care
  • Understanding of contemporary issues affecting adolescent girls (social media peer pressure body image academic stress)
  • Sensitivity to and respect for different cultural and religious practices around privacy and modesty
  • Knowledge of positive behaviour support strategies
  • Awareness of creating safe supportive environments for young women

2. Skills & Abilities:

  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid drivers license (essential)
  • Ability to build positive appropriate and respectful relationships with adolescent girls
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with students parents and staff
  • Capacity to supervise students and manage minor behavioural issues appropriately and in line with School policy and procedure
  • Ability to follow instructions and implement boarding house routines and procedures
  • Basic organisational skills for daily residential operations
  • Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in challenging situations
  • Teamwork skills to work collaboratively with other boarding staff.

3. Pastoral Care Capabilities:

  • Empathy and genuine interest in supporting student wellbeing
  • Ability to listen to and support students with homesickness or adjustment issues
  • Capacity to recognise and report student welfare concerns to the Heads of Boarding
  • Ability to encourage positive peer relationships and inclusive community
  • Ability to provide wellbeing support while maintaining professional boundaries

4. Personal Attributes:

  • Patience reliability and a caring nature
  • Maturity and sound judgment in dealing with adolescent issues
  • Strong professional ethics and commitment to confidentiality
  • Cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity
