About the Role

As the Sr. Director of Planning & Inventory Management you will play a critical leadership role in connecting financial assortment and inventory strategies to deliver enterprise growth and guest satisfaction. You will lead a team that translates financial goals into actionable merchandising and inventory plans across multiple categories and channels.

This role is both strategic and operational balancing financial planning forecasting and business analytics with inventory positioning flow management and cross-functional collaboration with Merchandising Finance and Supply Chain. Youll champion enterprise-wide transformation initiatives to simplify forecasting enhance system utilization and drive data-based decision-making across the organization.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive a cohesive financial and operational strategy for the Adult Beverage business that delivers sales margin and guest satisfaction.
  • Serve as the key liaison between Merchandising Inventory and Supply Chain teams to align strategies and resolve business trade-offs.
  • Oversee execution of replenishment and flow recommendations ensuring optimal inventory positioning and event readiness.
  • Lead the strategic development and implementation of Targets Direct Store Delivery business model that supports sales and delivers reliability.
  • Collaborate with Business Partnerships & Negotiations to inform vendor strategies and ensure supply continuity and flexibility.
  • Champion transformation efforts in planning and inventory management processes metrics and systems to support modernization and scalability.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team culture grounded in accountability and innovation.
  • Coach Planning and Inventory leaders driving analytical rigor and business ownership at all levels.
  • Promote diversity of thought encourage curiosity and inspire continuous improvement across the organization.

About You

Minimum Requirements and Key Competencies

  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 10 years of experience in Merchandising Planning Inventory Management or Supply Chain
  • Proven strategic leadership in multi-channel retail environments
  • Deep knowledge of financial planning retail accounting and forecasting systems
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to align large cross-functional teams
  • Courage to lead through ambiguity take smart risks and drive enterprise impact
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive and high-performance culture

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Targets needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team members core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually depending upon what your role team and tasks require for that day.
