Position Purpose:
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide individual couple and group counseling to students. Responsibilities also include but not limited in providing consultation to students faculty staff and community providers as well as providing training and education for various campus groups. A strong commitment to nurturing and advancing student development.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide personal counseling services that supply emotional and academic support for students either individually or in a group modality.
- Provide crisis/emergency interventions when appropriate.
- Develop and implement strategies and initiatives to promote student development by creative programming and counseling services options to meet student mental health needs.
- Based on licensure training and certification; providing alcohol and other drugs (AOD) assessments and referrals per MSUM AOD policy. Maintaining professional records and collateral clinical records such as but not limited to; triage intake OAP case notes treatment plan discharge plan on-going client form.
- Contribute to the development implementation and evaluation of department goals and programs including the development of effective dynamics among team members.
2. Conduct assessments to determine mental emotional and behavioral status of MSUM students so that information is available for treatment.
- Document assessments progress and recommendations and services rendered to the student such as but not limited to progress notes case notes and quality assurance reports.
- This would include student outcomes and revised recommendations as well as necessary/relevant documentation needed by internal departments and external agencies.
- In addition quality assurance reports and Maxient analytical data will be used for an annual MSUM Counseling Service report.
- Supervise master level counseling interns and provide constructive feedback as needed to ensure quality of services provided to those utilizing MSUM Counseling Services.
3. Provide formal and informal in-service education for professional staff and the university community.
- Consult with various university constituencies regarding issues of student mental health and deliver outreach in the form of presentation and workshops on psycho-education topics.
4. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner within area of expertise and licensure.
- Participate in campus committees Hendrix huddles Counseling Services staff meetings and required training per licensure.

Salary Range:
$28.26 - $41.43 hourly
$59007 - $86506 annually
Minimum Qualifications:
- Masters in Counseling or Social Science Discipline or Masters in Social Work
- Knowledge of applied treatment and educational techniques for psychological/psychiatric problems educational/vocational deficits and interpersonal relationship problems sufficient to treatment mental health and/or addictive problems.
- Excellent skills in oral and written communication reading comprehension. problem-solving observation analysis and therapeutic intervention.
- Ability to Exercise sound judgment and to develop physical and verbal skills sufficient to understand the student population of MSUM
- Ability to apply treatment techniques for mental health and/or addictive problems.
- Ability to use best practice techniques in the fields of mental health and/or addiction counseling.
Preferred Qualification:
- Earned Masters degree from a CACREP accredited university.
- Licensure in social sciences field such as LPCC LP LMFT LICSW.
- Licensed and or certified in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD
- At least one year experience working with a college student population.
- Willingness to pursue LPCC LP LMFT LICSW during initial two years of hire.
Other Requirements:
- Sitting standing lifting extensive keyboard work.
- Must be able to lift/carry equipment and materials occasionally.
