The Security and Fire Alarm Service Apprentice will develop essential skills for installing inspecting testing maintaining and repairing security fire alarm and related life safety systems. This role assists in ensuring all systems operate effectively comply with applicable codes and standards and meet customer requirements. Work may involve both scheduled service calls and emergency response.Learn and apply techniques for servicing security and fire alarm systems and related devices; dismantle and/or reconstruct equipment as needed.
Acquire knowledge of testing and inspections of security and fire alarm systems under maintenance agreements.
Troubleshoot and complete necessary repairs.
Collaborate with experienced team members to make connections and adjustments as directed; test the operation of all system components.
Conduct site surveys upon request from management.
Keep manuals and system documentation up to date.
Report completed work deferred tasks and items needing further attention or materials to management.
Communicate job status or completion with customers (installation or service).
Submit complete and accurate paperwork in a timely manner obtaining all necessary signatures.
Accurately record travel and service times complete timesheets identify warranties changes and code issues and provide thorough job descriptions.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school training is a plus.
Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in working with hand and power tools.
Eagerness to learn and develop new skills in the field of security and fire alarm systems.
Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Ability to operate a fleet vehicle safely.
Adheres to the Code of Conduct Confidentiality Agreement and Company Safety Policy.
Performs other duties as assigned.
While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand walk use hands to finger handle or feel reach with hands or arms stoop kneel crouch or crawl and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects.
The work also requires the following physical abilities in order to perform the essential job functions: balancing climbing grasping hearing mental acuity pulling pushing repetitive motion speaking talking and visual acuity.
