Job Summary

Franklin University a private independent accredited not-for-profit University located in Columbus Ohio invites applicants for its Student Teacher Supervisor position beginning January 5 2026.

The Student Teacher Supervisor serves as a Clinical Supervisor for student teachers in Ohio overseeing candidates in their assigned licensure area and grade band. This 14-week remote supervision role ensures candidates receive consistent support guidance and evaluation throughout their student teaching experience.

This role will work a remote schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete all onboarding paperwork and required training sessions (including the Supervisor Training and Seminar Meet-and-Greet).
  • Provide 14 weeks of remote supervision for assigned student teacher candidates.
  • Guide and support cooperating teachers through documentation and process expectations.
  • Serve as a liaison between the School of Education and the hosting school partner.
  • Conduct six formal student observations and six post-conference meetings plus midterm and final evaluations using the School of Educations assessment tools.
  • Maintain regular communication with student teachers via meetings email and Zoom offering timely constructive feedback.
  • Submit all required evaluation documents by program deadlines.
  • Foster student confidence teaching efficacy and professional growth.
  • Stay current with supervision best practices (e.g. cognitive coaching adult learning theory and instructional strategies).
  • Communicate any concerns to the Clinical Field Office.

The supervisor will conduct a minimum of nine virtual meetings with daytime availability including:

  • An initial meeting with the student teacher and cooperating teacher
  • Three classroom observations followed by post-conference meetings
  • A midterm evaluation meeting using the School of Educations approved assessment method
  • Three additional classroom observations with post-conference meetings
  • A final evaluation meeting using the School of Educations approved assessment method

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Education
  • Must have daytime availability to conduct virtual meetings with student teacher candidate(s) and cooperating teacher(s)
  • Must reside in Ohio
  • Hold/held a 5-year Professional Teaching Licensure
  • 5 years of K-12 teaching experience
  • Familiarity with Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES) the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession (OSTP) and the InTASC standards

Preferred Skills and Characteristics:

  • Experience with academic assessment programs (Candidate Pre-Service Assessment for Teachers OTES etc.)
  • Current/Active Ohio Teaching license
  • Previous experience mentoring or supervising teachers in Ohio
  • Familiarity with Google Drive Microsoft Teams online documents etc.

Additional Notes:

  • Supervisors receive a stipend of $750 per student teacher per semester.
  • Assignments are matched based on licensure area and grade band.
  • Typical supervision loads range from 13 students for new supervisors with a maximum of 5 per semester.
