Position Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct nursing care to patients hospitalized for treatment of behavioral health psychiatric conditions substance use or dual-diagnosis disorders. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse the LPN delivers compassionate trauma-informed care while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.

You will play a key role as part of a multi-disciplinary care team supporting treatment planning de-escalation medication administration observation protocols and patient education.

Reports To: Nurse Manager / Chief Nursing Officer
FLSA: Non-Exempt

Education & Licensure Requirements

Experience Preferred (Not Required):

• Behavioral Health Detox Psychiatric or Med/Surg experience

• Familiarity with trauma-informed care practices

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN supervision

• Conduct patient observations and safety checks

• Administer medications safely and per protocol

• Transcribe and carry out physician orders accurately

• Document patient status response to interventions and progress toward goals

• Assist with psychiatric emergencies and crisis stabilization

• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and care expectations

• Serve as a patient advocate ensuring dignity rights and confidentiality

• Participate actively in interdisciplinary treatment planning

• Support detox monitoring protocols as applicable

• Communicate clinical updates to RN provider and care team

• Promote a positive therapeutic and recovery-focused environment

Other duties may be assigned based on unit needs.
