Qualifications and requirements:The Surgical Technologist is an allied health professional competent in surgical procedures and an integral part of the surgical care team. The Surgical Technologist works under the supervision and delegation of a surgeon to facilitate safe and effective surgical Surgical Technologist is an expert in theory and application of aseptic and sterile technique knowledgeable of human anatomy surgical procedures and surgeon preferences to properly prepare the sterile field supplies instrumentation and the surgery the Surgical Technologist provides appropriate instrumentation and assists through a combination of knowledge participation anticipation and critical thinking. The Surgical Technologist works alongside and assists the circulating nurse as well as other members of the surgical team.

Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures. Reports to the Director of OB.
Essential Functions Additional Information
Patient Populations Served: Neonate Infant Early Childhood Late Childhood Adolescent Young Adult Middle Adult Older Adult.
Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic Clinical Insurance Financial Complete Medical Record.
Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present.
Physical Requirements: Frequent standing walking lifting/moving patients and repetitive hand/arm movements. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards including blood and bodily fluids hazardous medications and latex.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skills and/or abilities required.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; Graduate of a surgical technology program preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 6 months of prior experience in another facility.
License: /Certifications: None required; BCLS preferred.
