Join our Water Resources Bureau
Support the Districts Water Resources Bureau in this exciting and challenging role. As a Staff Engineer in the Facilitating Agricultural Resource Management Systems (FARMS) program you will work with the agricultural community to develop evaluate and guide groundwater conservation and water quality improvement projects from concept approval construction and performance monitoring consistent with the Board approved FARMS policy. You will be responsible for project/contract management deliverables review invoice processing and project close out. A strong understanding of water use permitting and environmental resource permits and their exemptions is recommended. You may also be involved in the management of research projects and other agricultural policy issues affecting the FARMS program.
The District supports employees who prefer a flexible schedule or a remote work schedule so that they can enjoy their time outside of the District through work-life balance. This role is considered hybrid which means the employee will be required to come on-site and may work a portion of their time remotely (must live in Florida). Starting Compensation:
$61254.00 - $84423.00
The starting salary range for the Engineer positionreflects the minimum to 50% of the compensation. The starting salary will be based on the education and experience of the successful candidate. The District conducts annual performance evaluations that may award applicable pay increases based on positive employee performance.
Essential Functions
- FARMS Project management including:
- Development
- Permitting
- Obtaining District approval
- Contracting
- Construction
- Reimbursement
- Performance monitoring
- Trouble shooting
- Monitor and determine FARMS project performance
- FARMS program outreach including:
- Communicate with growers and other interested parties such as federal and state agencies advising them on the advantages of the program
- Implementation of the FARMS Communications Plan
- Present to stakeholder groups at trade shows and conferences
- Project design review
Working Conditions
Employee works in a standard office environment. Occasional travel usually during the workday is required. Performs continuous repetitive tasks (to include keyboarding) with one or both hands. Occasionally lifts and carries objects up to 10 pounds. Occasionally requires bending and reaching above shoulder level. May spend time out in the field in remote areas. Possible travel to other offices. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Employee may be subject to call-in outside of regularly scheduled work hours or required to be on call including on nights weekends or holidays to respond to emergency management activities or other incidents requiring rapid response in support of District operations.
Required Credentials for Engineer
- Bachelors degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university in engineering
- Two (2) years related work experience
- Valid drivers license

Additional Details
The primary work location for this position is out of the Sarasota FL office. This position is eligible for compensatory time for hours worked over 40 hours in a week.
