We are currently looking for a Principal Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team in Waterloo Ontario. Reporting to the Quality Manager this position is responsible for guiding processes to ensure strict adherence to quality standards. applying established methods to verify that materials meet customer requirements while actively tracking and measuring performance to maintain product excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough inspections of incoming materials in-process components and finished goods to ensure they meet first article inspection (FAI) verification/inspection. Inspect production materials and provide guidance on improved quality practices and workmanship. Work with manufacturing engineering to reduce quality issues within the manufacturing environment and provide solutions to senior management.
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures including dimensional functional and visual checks. Plan organize direct and report on special process related activities to assure engineering requirements are meet for special processes. Creating and implementing processes to ensure products meet defined data related to quality control to identify trends patterns and areas for process with implementing improvements and creation/revision of associated documentation. Provide data summaries for customer review. Understanding of technical requirements and the ability to witness and verify technical requirements.
- Create and maintain detailed inspection reports/findings and other quality documentation. Provide Quality Management System (QMS) support to site functions. Ensuring product configuration management is maintained. Work to influence parties within and outside of the work area at an operation level regarding policies practices and procedures.
- Identify track and report product or process defects and participate in material review boards and root cause analysis.
- Work with production engineering and other teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective with designs and specifications devise testing plans methods and equipment to assure reliability of product. Ability to work autonomously with limited oversight. Provide coaching and support to other quality personnel.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and participate in quality improvement projects.
- Ensure products and processes adhere to Quality industry standards.
- Manage non-conforming products and communication with suppliers for non-conforming material.
- Perform internal QMS audits and supplier audits when required. Participate in factory acceptance testing and verification with customers and site teams.
- Responsible for the completion of ad-hoc assignments as directed.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary technical education.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a quality role. Experience with radar preferable.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Good computer skills in the Microsoft suite of programs and experience with quality management systems and data analysis tools.
- Familiarity with electronics components manufacturing processes and quality control methodologies.
- Ability to inspect products and identify with engineering when inspecting complicated materials.
- Proficiency in creating and maintaining quality documentation.
