Remote Work: Yes with occasional in-person attendance for community events or stakeholder meetings
Security Clearance: Required
Education Level: Bachelors Degree (minimum)
Career Level: Experienced Non-Manager
Travel Required: No (local travel within assigned region only)
Compensation: Hourly (via PO no insurance required)

Position Summary:

The State of Arizona is hiring three Outreach Specialists to support the Homes for Heroes initiative aimed at ending veteran homelessness across the state. Each specialist will be assigned to one of the three Continuums of Care (CoC): Maricopa County Pima County or Balance of State (13 counties).

The Outreach Specialist will engage with stakeholders such as government agencies non-profits housing providers employers and veterans to identify best practices service gaps and community resources. The role involves facilitating meetings compiling resource lists and contributing to a comprehensive plan to address veteran homelessness in alignment with federal state and local strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct targeted outreach and relationship-building with community stakeholders.
  • Facilitate virtual and in-person meetings to gather feedback and insights.
  • Identify and document local services and resources not currently listed in databases.
  • Collaborate with program coordinators and data analysts to develop strategic plans.
  • Attend all team meetings and contribute to project goals within a 7-month timeframe.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in community outreach or a similar role.
  • Strong verbal communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with social media and digital outreach tools.
  • Proficiency in virtual meeting platforms.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of federal housing programs (HUD-VASH SSVF GPD).
  • Familiarity with best practices in homeless services.
  • Understanding of data analysis and program evaluation.
  • Must reside in and be able to travel within the assigned CoC region.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Social Work Psychology Communication or related field.
  • Knowledge of SWOT analysis.
  • Military service experience or experience working with veteran populations.
  • Individuals with lived experience of homelessness are encouraged to apply.
Working Conditions:
  • Remote work with provided laptop and cellphone.
  • Occasional evening/weekend work for events or meetings.
