Job Summary:
The Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures in an ambulatory and/or hospital setting under the general supervision of a Radiologist or Physician. The technologist utilizes independent judgment ingenuity and initiative to perform high-quality ultrasound exams to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease and injury following established protocols and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of ultrasound examinations with a focus on OB/GYN imaging including obstetric gynecologic and other specialized studies as requested by the physician.
- Operate ultrasound equipment and ensure quality imaging results through proper positioning technique and documentation.
- Prepare patients for procedures explain processes and ensure comfort and safety throughout the exam.
- Evaluate images for diagnostic quality and proper documentation before submission to the radiologist for interpretation.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with HIPAA and facility protocols.
- Assist physicians during ultrasound-guided procedures as needed.
- Maintain and calibrate equipment reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Adhere to all infection control and safety policies.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience:
- Less than 1 year of ultrasound experience required.
Certifications/Licensure:
- Basic Life Support (BLS): Required upon hire or within 30 days of start date.
- Must hold one of the following active credentials:
- ARDMS: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) OB/GYN (OB) Abdomen (AB) or Breast (BR)
- ARRT: Registered Technologist in Sonography (ARRT-S) or Breast Sonography (ARRT-BS)
- CCI: Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS)
- RVT: Registered Vascular Technologist
