Job Title: Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO)
Location: Panama City FL 32401

Job Description:
-
Client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to oversee and enforce safety protocols on active Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) construction sites.
-
The SSHO will ensure full compliance with federal state and local safety regulations-including EMand OSHA standards.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Ensure compliance with the site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and all applicable safety policies.
-
Conduct daily safety inspections and audits of work areas equipment and operational practices.
-
Identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures to maintain compliance with safety standards.
-
Lead daily safety meetings toolbox talks and training sessions for all site personnel.
-
Investigate incidents near misses and safety violations; develop and document corrective and preventive action plans.
-
Maintain complete and accurate safety documentation including logs permits inspection reports and training records.
-
Ensure compliance with OSHA EMand Clients corporate safety policies and procedures.
-
Coordinate with subcontractors to verify their safety programs and training meet project-specific requirements.
-
Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for all safety-related matters.
-
Collaborate with project teams to identify hazards and develop proactive risk mitigation strategies.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelors degree in Environmental Health & Safety or a related field or a minimum of five (5) years of EHS experience in construction safety preferably on federal or large-scale commercial projects required.

OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification required.
-
Must possess-or be willing and able to obtain within 6 months-a CHST ASP or CSP certification.

EMtraining and prior experience strongly preferred.
-
Current First Aid/CPR certification.
-
Thorough knowledge of federal state and local safety regulations.
-
Excellent communication leadership and organizational skills.
-
Proven ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
