GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Provide fire mitigation prevention suppression medical treatment and fire education at an appropriate EMS level for Camp Guernsey and associated training lands.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

Respond to aircraft structural and other types of emergencies to protect life and property
Drive and maintain crash/fire/rescue fire equipment apparatus
Provide medical assistance and treatment at the appropriate EMT level
Perform other types of firefighter duties as needed when not utilized as a Driver
Participate in training activities station maintenance facility inspections and fire prevention activities.
Maintain records and prepare reports
Maintain inventory of extinguishing agents
Operate and maintain the mobile tactical and ground radios in various equipment and ensure communication capabilities and procedures are properly followed.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:

Preference will be givento those with an Associates Degree plus some Firefighting experience. Additionalconsiderationwill be given for Wildland experience.

**Required to obtain/maintain a valid Drivers License
**Required to obtain/maintain Federal Security Clearance

**The following are required within a maximum of 12 months from the date of hire:

Security Clearance
Valid Drivers License
Firefighter I
Firefighter II
Airport Firefighter
Hazardous Materials Operations
Driver/Operator Pumper
Driver/Operator Mobile Water Supply
Driver/Operator ARFF
All Certifications at all levels are required to be Pro Board or IFSAC accredited.

KNOWLEDGE:

Knowledge of Hazardous Material (HazMat)
Knowledge of aircraft hazards rescue procedures and firefighting techniques.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High School Diploma or GED

Certificates Licenses Registrations:

Valid Drivers License required at time of hire.

OR

Education & ExperienceSubstitution:

1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Firefighting)

Certificates Licenses Registrations:

Valid Drivers License required at time of hire.

Necessary Special Requirements

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to lift 150 pounds
Annual Physical Fitness and Agility maintenance program required

NOTES:

FLSA: Non-Exempt
An additional 56.2 hours of base will be added to the salary each month
Initial physical agility assessment test required prior to employment
Guernsey is a remote rural community with a population of approximately 1064. Locally there are medical clinics a hardware store a grocery store service stations and restaurants. Wheatland and Torrington are 25 to 35 miles from Guernsey and have multiple restaurants service stations fast food and general shopping. For larger personal shopping there are malls in Cheyenne and Casper WY and Scottsbluff NE all approximately 90 miles from Guernsey.
