**Important Information:**

As a Swim Teacher you will provide private and group swim lessons for individuals of all ages and skill levels. Your goal is to create a fun positive learning environment that encourages growth and improvement.

**Responsibilities:**

- As a Water Safety Instructor you will create an educational safe and welcoming experience for all participants.

- Memorize and use Charleston Swim Schools approved curriculum and log students progress.

- Stay aware of pool hazards and maintain constant supervision of students.

- Arrive on time for each lesson and ensure you have reliable transportation (lesson locations may vary as you will travel to the students local pools).

- Be alert and prepared to provide first aid or handle emergencies (first aid kits are provided).

- Foster a safe yet challenging environment for student growth.

- Adapt your teaching methods to accommodate the age experience and ability of participants to help them meet course objectives.

- As a swim teacher participate in regular in-service training sessions.

- Communicate effectively with supervisors students and parents.

- Complete additional duties as assigned by your supervisor.

**Qualifications:**

- Must have experience in aquatics such as swim team participation lifeguarding or instructing.

- Teachers must be positive enthusiastic accountable and communicative. Experience with children is essential.

- Must be able to perform all five strokes and float.

- CPR and First Aid certification is required or must have held it previously and be willing to renew within two weeks of hiring.

- Lifeguard training is preferred.

- Water Safety Instructor certification is a plus but not required.

**Preferred Knowledge and Skills:**

- Thorough understanding and application of swimming and water safety skills.

- Knowledge of teaching swimming and water safety skills.

- Familiarity with facility characteristics rules policies and procedures.

- Strong leadership instruction and public relations skills.

- Excellent communication and decision-making skills.

**Compensation & Benefits:**

- Starting pay: $20-24 per hour with 4-20 hours per week (fewer hours in the fall and spring more in the summer).

We are looking for teachers who can teach Saturdays during our Indoor schedule (October 13th-May 31st).
