Olivet Nazarene University seeks a full-time faculty member in the School of Theology and Christian Ministry (STCM) to begin in August 2026. The ideal candidate will teach courses in pastoral ministry to prepare and equip students to serve in the role of a lead pastor or other ministry position. The faculty member may also be assigned courses in the General Education program for the undergraduate student population. The position is contingent on budgetary approval.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Teaching core courses in pastoral ministry for STCM majors and general education courses for undergraduate students. Specialized study in homiletics pastoral care innovative or cross-cultural ministries or spiritual formation preferred.
  2. Engaging in university service including advising and mentoring students meeting with prospective students and serving on university committees.
  3. Supporting continuous quality improvement efforts of STCM programs through regular assessment and collaborative teamwork with the STCM faculty chair and dean.
  4. Contributing to the field of pastoral ministry through scholarship of discovery or application.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required

  1. A lifestyle in agreement with the ONU Statement of Mission Faith and Lifestyle Covenant.
  2. Ordination in the Church of the Nazarene or other Wesleyan-holiness denomination required. 3. Agreement with and support of the ONU Statement of Mission Faith and Lifestyle Covenant.
  3. A passion for teaching and mentoring the next generation of ministers is essential.
  4. Previous teaching experience is preferred.

Additional Information

EDUCATION
A Masters degree is required; DMin or PhD highly preferred. 5 years serving as a lead pastor required; 10 years preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The School of Theology and Christian Ministry is located on the third floor of the Burke Administration Building on the main campus of Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais Illinois. This position requires on-campus presence.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
The salary range for this position is $50000-$85000 and is based on experience and education.
