Job Description
Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Overtime including responding to after-hour and weekend emergencies as assigned.
Position Summary
The Alumnae House Janitor maintains the cleanliness of all public spaces office spaces restrooms and outdoor areas of Alumnae House. The Janitor is also responsible for the set up and breakdown of numerous catered events. Assistance to house guests and duties as assigned by the manager.This position is considered essential during weather related closings.
Responsibilities
Performs general and detailed cleaning including but not limited to restrooms bathrooms windows public spaces offices and outdoor areas.
Performs floor care tasks including but not limited to vacuuming mopping and carpet shampooing and occasionally stripping waxing buffing; and performs operator maintenance on equipment.
Uses light and heavy commercial type floor machines and attachments.
Performs set-ups and break downs for catered events that includes audio visual equipment.
Moves heavy furniture supplies and miscellaneous equipment as requested.
Collects trash and recyclable material.
Maintains decorative fountain.
Changes light bulbs except specialized conditions.
Inspects fire extinguishers and grease tanks monthly.
Inventories supplies.
Keeps storage areas clean and organized.
Unloads and unpacks large deliveries.
Delivers packages throughout the building.
Assists house guests as requested with luggage or other needs.
Assist with decorating for holidays.
Maintains wood pile and builds fires in fireplaces.
Water landscaping around the building and plants inside the building.
Maintains cleanliness of parking lot sidewalks and terraces.
Shovels snow from steps and walks at building entrances and spreads ice melt including days when the College is closed due to inclement weather.
Required knowledge skills and abilities
One (1) year experience in the maintenance and care of facilities in a similar environment is required.
Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license.
Ability to move position transport and place objects up to and including 75 pounds.
Ability to work ascend and descend on ladders.
Ability to communicate effectively in English including understanding speaking reading and writing.
Willingness to work additional hours as needed.
Pay Rate
$19.38 per hour
