The History Department at the University of Massachusetts Lowell is seeking to hire an Assistant Teaching Professor of History with a specialization in nineteenth-century U.S. History with an anticipated start of September 2026. Preferred qualifications include an ability to work with regional public and institutional history topics such as slavery entrepreneurship and commerce. A candidate who can also expand our offerings in global comparative history is especially desirable. Experience with teaching introductory-level history courses as well as seminars and advising undergraduate students is required.
The regular teaching load for this position is 3 courses per semester. Responsibilities will consist of teaching courses at the undergraduate level in American and world history. The successful candidate will be involved in service to the department college and university including advising undergraduate History majors and recruiting and outreach.

This is a full-time benefited Massachusetts Society of Professors/MTA/NEA union position. Anticipated salary range minimum of $65000 up to $96660 based on qualifications.
