ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Across our long day care out of school hours care and family day care services our staff are passionate about empowering todays children to become tomorrows future by teaching children to be respectful resilient and confident in an environment that is accepting safe and inspiring.

Our Education and Care team are looking for a number of OOSH Educators to join the team! This role is responsible for undertaking the day to day operations of the centre and the Educator OOSH must be committed to educate and nurture children from all communities to be respectful resilient and confident by providing an environment that is accepting safe and inspiring.

The role is key indeveloping key relationships with Education and Care staff other Council staff children and their families and is part of a multidisciplinary team where positive communication is paramount.

Reporting to the Centre Director - OOSH this position will also maintain a clean and safe learning environment that nurtures and inspires children to explore and engage in rich meaningful experiences which allows them to continue to construct their understanding of the world.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Relevant qualifications in an education and care related discipline (or working towards with completion within 12 months) or equivalent experience in a similar role
  • Valid Working with Children Check Clearance Number
  • Child Protection course approved by the NSW Regulatory Authority (s162A Education and Care Services National Law) (or willing to obtain)
  • Current First Aid Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificate as approved by ACECQA (or willing to obtain)
  • Completion of Food Handler/Safety Training (or willing to obtain)
  • Current class C drivers licence
  • Proven skills and experience in the following areas:
    • Education and care
    • Customer service
    • Communication skills in written and oral format
    • Computer operating systems
    • Effective time management and organisational skills.

About this role:

  • 3x permanent part-time position rotating between Cumberland Council OOSH locations in the following roster:
    • Parramatta West OOSH
      • 30 hours per fortnight working Monday to Friday 2:30pm - 5:30pm
      • 20 hours per fortnight working Monday to Friday 2:30pm - 4:30pm
    • Guildford West OOSH
      • 40 hours per fortnight working Monday to Friday 2:00pm - 6:00pm
    • Widemere OOSH
      • 30 hours per fortnight working Monday to Friday2:30pm - 5:30pm
    • Sherwood Grange OOSH
      • 30hours per fortnight working Monday to Friday2:30pm - 5:30pm

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 5 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a hourly rate of $33.01 to $40.43 per hour plus 12% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated taking into consideration the successful applicants qualifications skills and experience related to the role
  • Cumberland City Council has successfully been approved for funding under the Commonwealth Governments Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Worker Retention Payment Grant. This grant will provide an additional retention allowance to increase their wages in line with the federal Childrens Services Award 2010 and applies until 30 November 2026.

    The payment of the Worker Retention Payment allowance is not a condition of employment with Council and is subject to the Worker Retention Payment allowance being fully funded by the Commonwealth Government. Should this retention allowance cease to be paid by the Commonwealth Government Council will also cease payment of the ECEC Worker Retention Payment Grant to staff.

What youll need to have for this role:

  • The right to live and work in Australia
  • Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
  • Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Councils Health Monitoring Procedure as required.
