The Office of the District Attorney Bronx County (BXDA) is charged with the twin goals of ensuring public safety and striving for equal justice for the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community. By Pursuing Justice with Integrity the BXDA places a focus on assistance for crime victims while simultaneously ensuring fairness to defendants. Moreover the BXDA aims to balance the need to seek appropriate punishment for certain crimes while recognizing when punitive measures do not adequately advance justice. In furtherance of this mission the BXDA seeks experienced and enthusiastic Trial Preparation Assistant Supervisor to oversee the duties and train the professional staff in the Appeals Bureau. Specific duties will include but are not limited to training distributing work to and supervising a team of professional staff who perform the following duties and performing those same duties for the Bureau Chief and other attorneys:
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Maintaining a working knowledge of court rules and Appeals Bureau policies and helping the Bureau Chief implement such policies.
-Preparing legal documents for filing including proofreading cite-checking and generating tables of contents and authorities.
-Formatting and preparing documents for filing in compliance with court rules and bureau guidelines.
-Drafting procedural motion responses under attorney supervision.
-Preparing exhibits and appendices for legal documents.
-Maintaining and updating digital files databases and spreadsheets.
-Communicating with defense attorneys and courts regarding cases.
-Fulfilling defense requests for exhibits.
-Overseeing the Bureau onboarding and off-boarding processes.
-Scheduling meetings for Bureau Chief.
-Providing other litigation support to Assistant District Attorneys.
-Performing other duties assigned by Bureau Chief and Deputy Chiefs.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
-Bachelors degree preferred from an accredited college.
-Strong supervisory interpersonal communication and writing skills
-Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat Microsoft Word Outlook and Excel.
-Experience with Westlaw Drafting Assistant.
-Ability to work independently and effectively under short deadlines.
-Attention to detail.

Qualifications :
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 or 2 above. However all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in 1 above.
