- Supervises all operations staff collections supplies and facilities in accordance to library guidelines.
- Works with staff to address patron concerns and issues in a respectful and timely manner.
- Responsible for the oversite delivery budget management and marketing of public programming.
- Represents Portola Branch by participating in community outreach events and meetings.
- Meets weekly with direct reports to discuss work performance and build successful working relationships.
- Prepares annual performance plan and evaluations in accordance with the established deadlines.
- Supports branch public services on evenings and weekends by serving as Acting Chief of Branches.

- Ability to effectively communicate in a clear and concise manner with staff subordinates the general public community organizations and administration in order to provide information regarding library operations and strategic priorities.
- Demonstrated leadership in organizational change by assisting in policy formulation and implementation by chairing and/or participating in committee.

Education: Possession of a Masters Degree in library and information studies (e.g. MLS/MLIS) from a college university or program accredited by the American Library Association.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a professional librarian. Experience must be equivalent to the duties and responsibilities of class 3630 Librarian I. At least 1 year (equivalent to 2000 hours) verifiable experience performing the duties of a Childrens Youth and/or Teen Services Librarian.
Verification: Applicants may be required to submit verification of qualifying education and experience at any point during the recruitment and selection process.
