Job Summary
Lab Technician
Quality Lab Technician
Responsibilities:
*performing laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support plant operations in a timely fashion
*recording and sometimes interpreting results to present to senior colleagues;
*using computers and performing mathematical calculations for the preparation of graphs and or reports
*following and ensuring strict safety procedures and safety checks
*Keeps laboratory supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
*Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
*Operates and takes ownership of advanced laboratory equipment i.e. Microwave IC ICPMS and GCMS
*Documents information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.
*Resolves problems by examining and evaluating data; selecting corrective steps.
*Completes R&D projects by assisting project team; performing analysis and participating in group and project meetings.
Requirements:
*the ability to understand theory maintain and calibrate technical equipment;
*time management skills in order to work on several different projects at the same time
*Physical Requirements Candidates need to show evidence of the following:
*the ability to learn specific practical techniques and apply this knowledge to solve technical problems
*good hand and eye coordination and the ability to use technical equipment with accuracy;
*flexibility in order to work with and provide support for a number of people
*excellent oral communication skills in order to work effectively with colleagues from all parts of the organization and to explain complex issues to interested parties;
*teamwork skills
*patience
*attention to detail.
*Due to the nature of laboratory work normal color vision is essential. Excellent record-keeping skills are also required along with basic math skills and computing
