An excellent opportunity exists for a highly capable educator to grow professionally and contribute wholeheartedly in the role of Head of Secondary Teaching & Learning at Wyong Christian Community School (WCCS). The successful applicant would experience the blessing of contributing to a fantastic community of staff and parents within a beautiful school situated in a semi-rural setting.
WCCS is a growing school of approximately 900 students with waiting lists for most grades. We are a ministry of Wyong Baptist Church and have experienced stable leadership for our 32 years of existence having had only three Principals within that time.
The primary focus of the role will be to lead the Secondary staff in the development design and delivery of curriculum pedagogy assessment and reporting that reflects the schools vision and mission and is grounded in evidence-based research.
Selection Criteria
Essentials
- Active Christian faith and regular attendance at a Christian Church.
- Demonstrated commitment to the Vision Mission and Values of WCCS including the Statement of Faith.
- Demonstrated experience in educational leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop educational teams within a school context fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
- In-depth knowledge of NSW Curriculum and APST: Demonstrated high-level understanding of the NSW Curriculum and the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers with the capacity to lead alignment and implementation across faculties.
- Proven educational leadership and performance management skills: Demonstrated capacity to build staff capability mentor teachers and manage performance to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
- Exemplary teaching practice and instructional coaching ability: Demonstrated outstanding classroom teaching skills and the ability to support and coach colleagues toward pedagogical excellence.
- Data-informed practice: Proven ability to analyse student learning data at individual cohort and whole-school levels and use insights to inform targeted teaching and learning improvement.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills: Highly developed written verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to build constructive relationships with students parents and staff.
Desirables
- Postgraduate study in education or leadership: Additional tertiary study (e.g. Masters) with a focus on education leadership or curriculum would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with Christian Schools Australias Gods Big Story framework and evidence of implementing explicit instruction approaches effectively.
- A strong working knowledge of NESA requirements school registration and accreditation processes.
