As the Survey Manager you will oversee multiple field crews and office technicians ensuring the successful completion of survey projects for public and private clients. Youll manage budgets schedules and QA/QC standards while driving client satisfaction and business growth.
This role is ideal for a seasoned Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) who enjoys both technical leadership and team development in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage daily operations of multiple survey field crews and office staff.
- Plan organize and review boundary topographic and construction surveys for civil and transportation projects.
- Oversee budgets project schedules and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC).
- Coordinate closely with VDOT and local municipalities on roadway and utility corridor surveys.
- Develop and maintain client relationships; assist with proposals and project pursuits.
- Mentor and coach survey staff providing professional development and performance feedback.
Required Qualifications
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license or eligibility to sit for the exam within 6 months (exam fees paid by the company).
- 12 years of survey experience with 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Proven background in DOT or municipal survey projects.
- Proficiency in Bentley MicroStation / OpenRoads and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Strong understanding of federal state and local survey regulations.
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelors degree in Surveying or Civil Technology preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
- Subsurface utility locating/designating experience.
- Expertise in LiDAR aerial mapping or sUAS (drone) operations.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $85000 - $145000 (based on experience licensure and leadership scope)
Sign-On Bonus: $5000 - $10000 (issued after 90 days) may be applied toward relocation
Ownership & Retirement: Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) 401(k) with company match
