You will support the development delivery and coordination of Fife Bairns Hoose by working with partners to support children and their families through their care protection and justice journey. You will contribute to the management of the service with specific responsibilities to oversee the work of Bairns Hoose Support staff lead on complex areas of practice and ensure alignment with service priorities whilst evaluating and reporting on outcomes and service user feedback.

BairnsHooseis the Scottish Governments commitment toprovide children and young people across Scotland with access totrauma-informed recoverysupportand Scottish Government selected Fife as one ofitsBairnsHoosepathfindersites in October part of Fife BairnsHooseProjecta temporary positionhas been developed for a BairnsHooseCoordinator. This position will be basedin Glenrothes butlikely willrequire travel throughout Fife to meet with children and their position will be contracted for 15monthsona full-time basis.

This is a new and exciting opportunity to be part of a developing service. You willhavea wealth of experience of working directly with children who have sufferedadverse childhoodexperiences. You will haveknowledge of trauma informed practice childdevelopmentand the impact of abuse on children and young people. You will haveskills to listen to communicate with andadvocate for the rights of children and young people as well as support the people who care for them. You willhave experience ofworkingcollaboratively withother professionals such asSocial WorkHealth Police and third sector organisations. You willsupport childrenyoung peopleand the people who care for them to express their views andgive feedback tohelpdirect the development of the BairnsHooseproject in Fife.

You will:

  • be responsible for the line management and supervision of 2 Bairns Hoose Support Workers.

  • lead manage and co-ordinate the activities of the service to achieve positive outcomes with and for children young people and families.

  • lead the work of the team and ensure the quality of the service.

  • underpin the work of the team and service by providing a broad range of practice and administrative support functions setting up and maintaining efficient administration and recording systems as required locally and within the wider organisation.

  • take a lead role in enabling the Bairns Hoose to be a place that welcomes children and families with kindness and care creating a warm friendly atmosphere.

  • be an advocate and champion for childrens rights.

  • shape and develop services in line with agreed objectives respond to review of needs gaps and trends ensuring involvement of the individuals who use our service and to oversee support services to those individuals in line with service delivery requirements.

  • participate in a range of external networks for the benefit of and with the participation of children young people and families.

  • have experience of engaging children young people and their families to gain their views to influence the development of Fifes Bairns Hoose.

The Bairns Hoose Project Board will hold oversight of the Bairns Hoose Coordinator in respect of their role:

  • This role is managed by a Team Manager in Fife Councils Children and Families Social Work Service.

The Person

You will hold a Degree or Diploma in or equivalent professional qualification at SCQF Level 9.

  • Significant experience and skills in delivering childrens services including working with young people who have suffered trauma and/or been at risk of significant harm from abuse violence and/or neglect.

  • Experience of working with parents and carers.

  • Knowledge of practice models; assessment frameworks and standards.

  • Knowledge and understanding of stakeholderobjectives.

  • Experience in implementing systems and processes.

  • Supervisory skills.

  • Leadership skills.

  • Experience to manage complex situations.

  • Motivational and coaching skills.

  • Knowledge of relevant Fife Council guidelines.

  • Management experience.

  • Knowledge of responsibility for reporting issues.

You will be required to register with your relevant regulatory body.

An ability to travel within Fife desirable.

Before confirming to your appointment you willbe requiredto obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
