Your role at St John of God Health Care

St John of God Health Care is seeking a skilled and strategic Lawyer (Commercial) to join our Legal this pivotal role you will provide high-quality timely legal advice and support across a broad range of commercial matters helping to shape and protect the organisations interests.

You will deliver proactive commercially sound legal advice and strategic guidance to support business operations while drafting negotiating and reviewing a wide variety of contracts. The role also involves advising on high-value projects including property transactions corporate acquisitions redevelopments and major tenders and working closely with internal stakeholders to identify and manage legal risks effectively.

The position

Under the guidance of more senior lawyers (if required) and subject to area of expertise:

  • Draft negotiate and review a wide range of contracts including:

    • leases property contracts of sale and other property documents
    • construction contracts minor works contracts and consultant contracts
    • software licence and other technology agreements
    • supply of goods and/or services contracts
    • student placement agreements
    • clinical service contracts
    • health fund contracts
    • joint venture agreements
  • Assist with projects such as property and corporate acquisitions redevelopments and major tenders from time to time.

  • Advise on matters such as privacy health insurance and laws and regulations impacting the health sector.

  • Seek assistance from senior lawyers where required.

  • Manage instructions to external lawyers and monitor and compare costs.

  • Assist in reviewing policies and procedures.

  • Conduct legal research.

You will have the ability to quickly integrate with and work as part of the existing legal team and the wider business along with a pro-active approach in dealing with matters and being able to respond to emerging issues this is pivotal to this will possess strong attention to detail with the ability to balance competing priorities and ability to work well under pressure.

To succeed you will possess a Bachelor of Laws and be qualified to act as a legal practitioner in Australia and have 26 yearspost admission experience in corporate and / or commercial law.
