Seasonal Wildlife Interpreter Preprofessional supports educational programming at the DuPage Wildlife Conservation Center while gaining on the job training to complement their education.
What Youll Do
- Assist in the development of programs and educational materials.
- Deliver interpretive programs and guided tours to visitors of all ages.
- Assist in facilitating wildlife themed activities for summer camp groups.
- Collaborate with local schools community groups and organizations to expand the reach of educational initiatives.
- Serve as a resource to visitors for information about wildlife local natural history and Conservation Center operations.
- Foster a working environment that promotes safe work habits that supports a clean organized and hazard-free camp environment.
- Deliver excellent customer service and support a positive team-oriented workplace.
What Youll Need
- 18 years of age or older at time of hire.
- Valid Drivers License in good standing.
- Pursuing or recently completed a degree in education wildlife management biology or a related field.
- 1 year of experience working with youth in an educational or summer camp program or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Must have and maintain CPR AED and First Aid certification or obtain upon hire.
- Must have and maintain Illinois Mandated Reporter certification or obtain upon hire.
- Profiency in Microsoft Word PowerPoint and Excel.
- Knowledge of local fauna and local natural history.
- Basic knowledge of wildlife care and wildlife management practices.
- Comfortable interacting with youth of varying age ranges.
Schedule & Pay
- Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM though schedule will vary depending on needs
- Expected start date is from June 2026 through August 2026.
- $17.00 to $18.00 per hour.
Work Setting
- Based at DuPage Wildlife Conservation Center at Willowbrook Forest Preserve
- Requires working indoors and outdoors. Exposure to all weather conditions wildlife including insects birds reptiles and small mammals.
