Job Summary

Position Summary

Technical work involving operation and support of PC hardware software and peripheral equipment. Employees in this position are responsible for operating computer and peripheral equipment by means of a PC or on-line terminals. Work involves the application of initiative and independent judgment.

Salary: Appropriate placement on ACCS Salary Schedule E4 Grade 05: $34298 - $51793

(Salary within this range is determined by your documented years of full-time related work experience)


Work Hours: Monday through Thursday 7:45 a.m. - 5:15 p.m.; Friday 7:45 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Install personal computer hardware and software including unpacking testing transporting to user site and interfacing to network and/or main computer system.
  2. Imaging large groups or supporting said imaging using applications such as MSCM Acronis Ghost etc.
  3. Maintenance and setup of licensing servers supporting instructional departments use of specific software such as SolidWorks SolidEdge etc.
  4. Respond to user problems; assist in identifying computer software and hardware malfunctions and in initiating corrective action to maintain workflow.
  5. Assist in supporting the network including installation and troubleshooting of appropriate cabling.
  6. Provide technical support of the Student Technology Support Center in relation to student devices and loaner devices.
  7. Provide audio and video support as required.
  8. Provide Help Desk support as required on a regular basis.
  9. Promote positive and productive relationships with service areas businesses industries and agencies.
  10. Perform all duties with professionalism.
  11. Create preventive maintenance procedures to insure quality performance and detect early warning signals.
  12. Develop write test and document programs within the scope of knowledge and authority.
  13. Institute corrective action where required within the scope of knowledge and authority.
  14. Establish standards and practices that encourage effective resource utilization.
  15. Recognize and acknowledge quality work commitment to customer service creativity and initiative.
  16. Other duties as assigned by appropriate supervisor.

Qualifications

A minimum of a Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution in a technology related field with work experience supporting audio video and/or installing PC hardware and software network cabling and supporting users is required
OR One (1) year (32 semester or 48 quarter hours) of postsecondary education from an accredited institution with a minimum of six (6) semester hours (10 quarter hours) in CIS/MIS and a minimum of two (2) years of work experience supporting audio video and/or installing PC hardware and software network cabling and supporting users is required
OR high school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years work experience and technical knowledge in Windows workstation hardware and software and network applications is required
OR high school diploma or equivalent with A MTA or MCSA certification and a minimum of six (6) months work experience supporting audio video and/or installing PC hardware and software network cabling and supporting users is required.

Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate through their experiences and accomplishments:

  1. Demonstrated experience in hardware resolution.
  2. Demonstrated experience in software resolution.
  3. Demonstrated experience in network technology.
  4. Working knowledge of audio video technology.
  5. Working knowledge of voice over IP phone systems.
  6. Working knowledge of data processing and common workstation applications.
  7. Extensive experience with Windows operating system.
  8. Extensive experience in workstation hardware and software.
  9. Working knowledge of network applications.
  10. Effective written and oral communication skills.
  11. Ability to communicate and work effectively and pleasantly with a variety of individuals and groups both internally and externally.
  12. Ability to maintain confidentiality of office information.
  13. Ability to work under tight deadlines and to handle multiple tasks and various situations in a calm and professional manner.
  14. Initiative responding to downtime by taking responsibility to do other work; a focus on details.
  15. Customer Service Orientation A focus on being friendly and patient in responding to customer needs.
  16. Willingness and desire to learn new things and apply that learning.
  17. Willingness to maintain flexibility in order to meet customer needs.
  18. A positive attitude regardless of circumstances at hand.
