Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations Danbury Hospital New Milford Hospital Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut and Northern Dutchess Hospital Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York plus multiple primary and specialty care physician practices locations including The Heart Center a leading provider of cardiology care. Non-acute care is offered through various affiliates

Purpose: The Licensed Practical Nurse in the acute care setting provides care to patients and is responsible for performing designated tasks and responsibilities under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The licensed practical nurse provides direct and indirect patient care services requiring technical and manual skills within the scope of practice that meet the psychosocial physical and general aspects of care and meets the communication needs of the patient and family.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Completion of state approved Licensed Practical Nurse program

1-2 years recent nursing experience preferred

Minimum Knowledge Skills and Abilities Requirements:

Basic Computer Skills

Critical thinking skills

Prefer experience in a clinical setting

Basic knowledge in EMR documentation systems

License Registration or Certification Requirements:

Current and unobstructed New York State Licensed Practical Nurse License (NY Hospitals)

Current American Heart Association Training - BLS Required for all Nursing positions

Working Conditions:

Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational: Some occupational risk

Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt odors noise human waste etc.
