Contract Type: Temporary for 12 months

In this role you will undertake a variety of typing duties to support major incident enquiries.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide a typing/word processing service and clerical support to the Major Incident Teams. Duties include both audio and copy typing compliance with typing conventions as required by HOLMES 2.
  • Attend and make records of actions allocated during department meetings.
  • Deal with sometimes distressing telephone enquiries identifying and collating information taking appropriate messages and directing them to correct place.
  • Order and maintain stock and stationary supplies. Receive and account for deliveries from suppliers.
  • Convert as required and input data accurately onto HOLMES 2 under supervision.
  • Input details of missing persons casualties survivor evacuees and deceased persons urgently to various data bases e.g. CLIO NMAT Child Rescue Alert. Update administrative computer records as required e.g .DDT
  • Act as call handler within a Casualty Bureau in the event of a major incident/disaster/Child Rescue Alert
  • Collect distribute file and/or photocopy correspondence.

Skills and experience:

  • Must hold full driving licence as may be expected to work and travel to other Districts throughout the force.
  • Must be computer literate with experience of using Microsoft computer packages.
  • Hold minimum RSA II Typing or Word Processing qualification.
  • Ability to undertake sustained accurate audio typing (tape and telephone calls).
  • Must have experience of working to a high level of accuracy and have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Have experience of dealing with confidential and sensitive information and the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Be flexible in their approach to work. This role often requires staff to work extended hours.

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 5 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.
