Job Summary

Summary:

Genesee & Wyoming (G&W) is a growing short line railroad operator with a broad North American and UK/European footprint. G&W owns or leases more than 100 freight railroads globally with 4000 employees serving more than 2000 customers over 13000 track miles. The Tax Intern will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of G&Ws state income tax returns as well as special projects as necessary.

The internship is full-time (40 hours per week) during the summer semester in our Rochester NY office and paid at a rate of $21.00 hourly.

Responsibilities:

Compliance prepare various state and other miscellaneous tax returns to ensure compliance with local and state laws
Research perform basic tax research on domestic tax issues including state and local tax questions and various other related issues
Handle administrative tasks such as data entry for tax returns printing and scanning

Required Skills Experience & Education:

Effective oral and written communication skills
Proficiency in MS Word Excel and Outlook
Excellent critical thinking/problem solving skills
Strong attention to detail
Self-starter
Ability to interact effectively with all levels
Must have a valid drivers license
Must be pursuing a Bachelors degree
