JOB TITLE:

Assistant Professor

JOB PURPOSE:

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics at the University of Wyoming (UW) invites applications for a full-time nine-month tenure-track/tenured faculty position in Mathematics with a specialization in Analysis. This position is set to begin August 2026. Job duties include teaching research and service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to conduct high level research obtain extramural funding work collaboratively with other scientists and teach a variety of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. A competitive startup and salary package will be provided to the successful candidate. Both teaching and research are important at the University of Wyoming. Successful tenure cases require dedication and proficiency in both areas.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• A PhD in Mathematics with a focus in Analysis or closely related fields
• A demonstrated track record or evidence of potential for excellence in research in Analysis or closely related fields
• Evidence of ability to teach courses at the university level

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• A demonstrated track record or evidence of potential for excellence in research
• Evidence of potential for obtaining extramural funding
• Previous experience or future plans for mentoring undergraduate/graduate students
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty staff and students
• Evidence of excellence in teaching courses at the university level
• Excellent communication skills

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Mathematics and Statistics Department has 28 faculty members 23 of which are active researchers work on algebra combinatorics graph theory probability numerical analysis modeling mathematical biologyergodic theory harmonic analysis operator algebras and quantum information. The department is also home to 31 graduate students and maintains lively graduate programs in mathematics and statistics. The department is a part of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (CEPS) of the University of Wyoming. This College includes 10 departments and prides itself on research innovation teaching excellence industrial engagement and broader societal impact. With a significantly increased budget we have embarked on a transformational journey to become a Tier-1 Institution recognized nationally for academic excellence and world-class research. This includes new state-of-the-art facilities and dedicated funding for research initiatives.
