Job Summary

Position Description:

The Department of Neurology Division of Child Neurology at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and Childrens Wisconsin (CW) seeks a one-year Instructor (Fellow) with a focus on Pediatric Neurocritical Care. We are comprised of nationally and internationally renowned dedicated group of faculty and staff with a strong commitment to clinical care.

Position Highlights:

  • The Pediatric Neuro ICU is staffed by three critical care neurologists and a NP with broad expertise in epilepsy stroke ICU EEG and other neuromonitoring such as transcranial doppler.
  • We are the only tertiary Childrens hospital serving SE Wisconsin and have access to sophisticated technology and support services to provide highly specialized medical and surgical care for unusual and complex medical problems of our pediatric patients
  • We have a 72-bed pediatric critical care unit.
  • Our fellowship offers a curriculum that is tailored to the individual trainees professional interests.
  • This position will take place at the Childrens Wisconsin Milwaukee campus

Schedule:

  • 12 months of training. Duty hours will not exceed an anverage of 80 hours per week in a four-week block. Duty hours will include one day off (usually two days off) during the 7-day week.

Department/Division Highlights:

Our 12-month clinical training includes time on the Neurocritical Care consult service instruction in ICU EEG and neuroimaging interpretation and clinical application exposure to adult and pediatric neurovascular and endovascular services as well as pediatric neurorehabilitation. Fellows will have the opportunity to participate in active clinical research multidisciplinary conferences and education of trainees in Pediatrics and Neurology. We have excellent integration with other services including pediatric critical care medicine neurosurgery trauma surgery epilepsy/ICU EEG and physical medicine and rehabilitation. We engage in formal educational and academic activities. We have a multidisciplinary follow up clinic.

Qualifications:

  • Medical/Doctoral degree (MD DO or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Qualified child neurologist who is board-eligible or board-certified by the ABPN.

Childrens Wisconsin and Childrens Specialty Group

Childrens Wisconsin is an independent health care system dedicated solely to the health and well-being of children. The hospital with locations in Milwaukee and Northeast Wisconsin is recognized as one of the leading pediatric health care centers in the United States. Childrens Wisconsin provides primary care urgent care emergency care specialty care mental and behavioral health services community health services foster and adoption services child advocacy services and health insurance plans. Each year the Childrens Wisconsin team has more than 6.5 million touchpoints with kids and families through medical care advocacy research and Northeast Wisconsin Childrens Wisconsin is expanding its services to provide increased access to outstanding pediatric subspecialty care. This includes a pediatric hospital with a Pediatric Unit Level III NICU and Infusion Center which is located at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah WI. Childrens and its joint venture with the Medical College of Wisconsin the Childrens Specialty Group (CSG) - are the largest providers of pediatric healthcare in the state serving the children and families of Wisconsin with the highest level of care through their American College of Surgeons Level I Childrens Surgery Verification Center Level I Pediatric Trauma Center Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence 72-bed Level IV NICU Level IV Epilepsy Center and a 72-bed 2021-2022 CW and CSG had six specialties ranked by US News & World Report: cancer; cardiology and heart surgery; gastroenterology and GI surgery; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopedics; and pulmonology. With over 70 specialties and 675 providers CSG providers had 220000 outpatient visits at 13 regional care sites 67000 emergency department/trauma center visits and over 9000 admissions.
