Job Summary

Position TitleProject Engineer Power Plant
SpecialisationBachelors degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent. Minimum 3-7 years of experience in project execution and commissioning in thermal power plants or heavy industrial sectors. Certification in ASNT Level II (UT RT DPT) preferred. Proven track record of handling turbine-generator (TG) sets and associated auxiliary systems from installation to commissioning. Project Management certification (PMP or PRINCE2) is an advantage.

Job / Activity / KRAThe Project Engineer TG & Auxiliaries will be responsible for overseeing the installation commissioning and operational readiness of turbine-generator sets and associated auxiliary systems within the 150 MW thermal power plant. The role ensures reliability and performance of these critical components to support uninterrupted operations at the Aditya Smelter. The engineer will coordinate with vendors contractors and internal teams to ensure compliance with project timelines quality and safety standards.
Job BriefMonitor and supervise on-site installation of turbines generators and auxiliary systems ensuring adherence to design safety and quality standards. Ensure timely completion of mechanical electrical and instrumentation work for TG systems. Identify and resolve technical issues arising during installation and commissioning phases. Develop and implement detailed commissioning procedures for TG & auxiliary systems including load trials and performance tests. Ensure system integration with boilers cooling towers and electrical distribution networks. Collaborate with the commissioning team to conduct functional and performance tests troubleshoot issues and validate system reliability. Coordinate with equipment suppliers to ensure timely delivery and technical support. Ensure compliance with environmental health and safety (EHS) regulations during all project stages. Support handover to operations with complete documentation including as-built drawings commissioning records and maintenance guidelines. Work with operations and maintenance teams to optimize performance and support predictive maintenance plans. Implement risk mitigation strategies and ensure system resilience for grid disturbances or equipment failures.

Area of Relevant ExperienceTurbine-Generator Systems: Strong understanding of TG systems including steam turbines generators condensers and auxiliary systems. Power Plant Commissioning: Expertise in commissioning TG equipment performance testing and troubleshooting. Project Execution: Experience in supervising mechanical electrical and instrumentation work for TG systems. Vendor Coordination: Skilled in managing equipment suppliers and technical service providers. Risk Mitigation: Experience in identifying risks and implementing solutions during installation and commissioning. Safety & Compliance: In-depth knowledge of safety standards environmental regulations and industry best practices.
Job Specific Technical Skill
Must Haves
Strong technical knowledge of TG systems and auxiliaries. Proficiency in commissioning and troubleshooting rotating equipment. Project execution and site supervision skills. Understanding of performance testing vibration analysis and alignment checks. Ability to manage multiple contractors and ensure smooth coordination. Knowledge of project scheduling tools like Primavera P6 and MS Project.
