Job Summary

The Role

We have an exciting and fast paced opportunity to join the Infinite Aged Care team in the role of Chef at our Edmonton Gardens care home. Reporting to the Facility Manager and our Regional Chef Manager the Chef/Cook is responsible for providing a quality catering service which meets our residents needs including the supervision preparation and participation in cooking and baking. The Chef/Cook is an integral member of the team responsible for providing leadership and first line supervision to kitchen staff. This responsibility includes the allocation of duties to kitchen staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain high standards of preparation in minimizing nutritional losses and avoiding bacterial hazards.
  • Ensure the day-to-day purchase delivery storage preparation cooking service and presentation of food and drink for residents is completed within prescribed standards and preferences.
  • Respond positively to special occasion requests e.g. birthdays and events.
  • Ensure all aspects of the kitchen are thoroughly cleaned before and after food preparation.
  • Always looking to improve services to ensure our residents receive meals of the highest quality.

This role is a physical role whereby you will do a lot of bending squatting lifting and pushing items to carry out your daily tasks safely. It is important you can perform these tasks without risk of injury to yourself your colleagues and our residents.

Who are you

  • Have a Certificate III or higher in Commercial Cookery.
  • Food Safety Supervisors certificate - desirable.
  • Commitment to attend safety specific training and upskilling sessions paid by the company.
  • Willingness to come up with safety ideas that improve awareness hazard reduction and incident reporting.
  • Hold a resident-centric mindset which flows through to all aspects of your work.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to learn and desire to continuously develop as a result from feedback provided by residents and managers.
  • Previous experience in Aged Care or the Health sector will be an advantage.
