JOB TITLE: Service Desk Advisor
WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Nonexempt

REPORTS TO: Director of Data Governance and Management Services
PAY GRADE: Paraprofessional 060
DUTY DAYS: 230
DEPARTMENT: PEIMS and Data Services

A Letter of Assurance will be issued for this position.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provide central point-of-contact for help-desk assistance and support with district student management system Texas Records Exchange and teacher gradebook such that district campus and administrative staff can successfully and proficiently operate and maintain these district systems. Provide excellent customer service to all users requesting or needing assistance in a team-oriented environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Excellent communication skills including verbal written and face-to-face interaction
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Knowledge of student management systems Texas Record Exchange and PEIMS/TSDS
- Ability to analyze end-users questions to successfully resolve system issues
- Ability to work cooperatively in a variety of settings
Ability to operate computer/peripherals using a variety of basic applications
- Ability to effectively use district programs after basic training and with reasonable help-desk assistance
Minimum Experience:
At least two (2) years of experience with data processing and attendance or other comparable experience with required systems
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:
- Assist campus and administrative staff to troubleshoot and resolve system issues with data processing programs student management systems elementary scheduling programs and Texas Record Exchange.
- Analyze detect and resolve problems with PEIMS/TSDS Unique Identification and state numbers student management systems (gradebook report card Cognos online enrollment etc.) dual enrollment attendance issues scheduling issues and Texas Record Exchange.
- Create and update campus master schedules and maintain teacher and room catalogues for all elementary and early childhood campuses.
- Provide individual assistance to data processing records and attendance staff at all campuses as needed or requested.
- Collaborate with program and campus staff to monitor analyze detect and resolve problems with student data.
- Maintain confidentiality of student and staff information and records.
- Assist campus and administrative staff in maintaining student data quality completeness and confidentiality.
- Train new attendance data processing and record clerks to effectively use the student management system daily and to document and maintain records as required by the state.
- Provide annual and continuous training to all attendance data processing record clerks and registrars on new and revised data requirements.
- Write maintain and update attendance enrollment withdrawal scheduling and registration manuals for district personnel per district and TEA policies.
- Develop and generate specific reports for attendance PEIMS and special services to monitor the accuracy and completeness of student staff and campus data.
- Assist campuses with specific reports for attendance PEIMS/TSDS and special services to ensure data quality.
- Assist in compiling information to be used in various federal and administrative reports.
- Comply with federal state and district policies and regulations concerning primary job functions.
- Assign campus staff appropriate access to the student information system in compliance with FERPA.
- Provide temporary back up to campuses when data processing clerk registrar attendance clerk or registrar positions are vacant or personnel are out of the office.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written). Occasional travel within the district.
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment computer multi-line phone system copier fax machine
Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing
Motion: Repetitive hand motions prolonged used of computer
Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); move small stacks of student files
Mental Demands: Must maintain emotional control under stress; should be able to focus while performing tasks with frequent interruptions.
Safety: Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training wearing personal protective equipment as required reporting injuries and incidents immediately to the supervisor and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
