Software Engineer II

*This will be a remote role to start with plans to transition to hybrid in-office 2x/week located in downtown Toronto.

The Opportunity:

Were looking for a thoughtful and curious Software Engineer II to join our growing engineering team in Toronto. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on our core product. Youll work closely with product design and engineering teams to build secure scalable and delightful payment experiences for both restaurants and diners around the world.

In this role you will:

• Build and Innovate: Partner with senior engineers and product managers to design develop and evolve our systems. Youll take ownership of features throughout their entire lifecycle from the initial idea to development testing and making improvements in production.
• Champion Code Quality: Contribute to a culture of excellence by writing code that is clear tested and easy for others to build upon. Youll share your knowledge and elevate the team through helpful and constructive code reviews.
• Enhance Our Tools: Look for creative ways to improve our development experience whether its by enhancing our tools boosting test coverage or refining our code structure.
• Take Pride in Your Work: Help us ensure our systems are reliable and performant. Youll use your curiosity to find automated ways to maintain production quality working with monitoring and alerting tools to keep our services healthy.
• Connect and Collaborate: Act as a key communication link for your projects keeping the team updated and proactively reaching out to clear roadblocks. We believe the best solutions come from working together.
• Grow Your Expertise: Become a go-to person for at least one area of our codebase developing a deep understanding that you can share with the team.

Were excited about you if you have:

• A Solid Foundation: You have 2-5 years of professional experience developing with C# and framework (we 8).
• API & Database Skills: Youre comfortable building RESTful APIs and have worked with both relational (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases.
• Cloud Experience: You have experience with cloud platforms preferably AWS. Familiarity with services like Amazon S3 for object storage or AWS Lambda for serverless functions is a strong plus.
• Modern DevOps Mindset: You have hands-on experience with Docker and an interest in deploying applications on Kubernetes (K8s).
• An Eye for Quality: You appreciate the importance of observability and have some familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g. StatsD Grafana ELK stack).
• A Collaborative Spirit: You bring a positive self-starting attitude and enjoy working with others with flexibility and an open mind.
• Education: A Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering a related field or equivalent real-world experience.

There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range including but not limited to external market benchmark data geographic location and years of experience sought/required. The range for this Toronto Canada based role is $100000-$125000 CAD.

This role is eligible to be considered for an annual bonus and equity grant.
