Summary

Under supervision with the narrowest latitude for independent judgement and decision the Custodian performs general janitorial tasks including but not limited to a variety of cleaning maintenance and repair tasks and duties in the care of facility buildings and adjacent grounds.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Toperformthisjobsuccessfullyanindividualmustbeabletoperformeachessentialfunction with or without accommodation. The requirements listed below are representative of the duties responsibilities knowledge skill and/orabilityrequired.

Preventative and Regular Maintenance

  1. Responsible for and prioritizes the regular and timely maintenance and cleaning responsibilities of all areas of the property including the common areas offices outdoor grounds parking lot and neighboring alley.
  2. Sweep remove debris clean spills scrub mop and vacuum as required throughout the common areas of the building including but not limited to stairwells laundry room lounge community room hallways etc. and in offices and facilities.
  3. Periodically strips and waxes floors. May steam-clean and/or shampoo carpets.
  4. Regularly check the trash receptacles emptying as needed in all areas of the site complying with municipal recycling guidelines as required.
  5. Service clean and supply restrooms in offices and facilities
  6. Clean all laundry rooms including laundry room appliances.
  7. Dust furniture walls and equipment in offices and facilities.
  8. Replace light bulbs throughout the building.
  9. Remove weeds plant bushes trees flowers shrubs and maintain landscape.
  10. Set up arrange and remove decorations tables chairs ladders and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events.
  11. Keep janitorial supplies in stock and cleaning equipment in working order.
  12. Perform routine maintenance tasks and make necessary repairs before they become urgent.
  13. Transport supplies and various sizes of items which may include but is not limited to office furniture bankers boxes of files and office equipment between facilities.
  14. Assist as needed and approved or assigned by supervisory staff.

Repairs and Problem-Solving

  1. Perform minor repairs such as patching walls replacing light fixtures and repairing doors and windows.
  2. Repair broken locks windows and damage to walls and building structure immediately.
  3. Ensure there is a Facility ticket number for each request for maintenance service before performing any request.

Safety and Compliance

  1. Regulatory Compliance: The Custodian must strictly comply with and ensure staff compliance with all state federal and local regulations.
  2. Professional Behavior: Strictly maintain professional boundaries following established limits and guidelines for appropriate behavior with participants ensuring a safe and ethical environment by clearly separating the professional role from personal interactions and protecting the participants privacy and dignity. Boundaries typically include but are not limited to personal disclosure limits physical touch restrictions and clear communication about the professional nature of the relationship.
  3. Health and Safety: Ensure strict compliance with health and safety regulations to CLAREMATRIX standards OSHA CAL-OSHA and all regulatory requirements.

Record Keeping and Facility Contracts

  1. Must gain and maintain knowledge of the Operations/Facility contracts to ensure compliance and utilization.

Teamwork and Communication

  1. Communication: Work in collaboration with your team members. Collaborate with the Operations Manager facility assistant and maintenance technician. Respond to staff and participants in a professional and courteous manner.
  2. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams including but not limited to department heads managers directors and senior management.
  3. Staff Meetings: Participate in staff meetings one-on-one meetings with supervisors and other meetings as required.
  4. Mission and Values: Maintain knowledge understanding and application of CLAREMATRIXs mission vision and philosophy.
  5. Education and Training: Participate in ongoing training team meetings and certifications as applicable.
  6. Contributeto ahealthyworkenvironment by always cultivating and maintaining appropriate boundaries and professional demeanor.

Secondary Areas of Responsibility

Qualifications and Requirements

  1. Must have a high school diploma or an equivalent such as a GED.
  2. Must have a minimum of 2 years experience as a Custodian.
  3. A minimum of one year sobriety if in recovery.
  4. This position requires driving as a job function. A valid drivers license is necessary to be able to drive the company car. Alternatives of modes of transport are not feasible due to the number weight and size of items to be transported.

PhysicalDemands:

While performing the responsibilities of the job the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is constantly required to prolonged standing walking and sitting. This job requires physical demands of lifting 50 pounds frequently. The job requires sustained physical activity of reaching bending kneeling and stooping constantly. The employee is constantly required to stoop kneel crouch or crawl. Must be able to operate standard janitorial tools and equipment. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust to focus.

The candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. MedicalHistory:

All employees who have or require contact with participants or in food preparation shall complete a health screening report or a health questionnaire. A health screening report will be provided upon hire. For all residential and detox employees a health screeningreport willbecompletedandapprovedbyamedicalpractitionerforclearance. All outpatient employees will complete a self-report screening questionnaire.

A TBtestwill beconductedunder alicensedmedicalprofessional notmorethan60calendardays prior to 7 calendar days after employment and renewed annually from the date of the last tuberculosis with a known record of tuberculosis or a record of positive testing shall not be required to obtain a tuberculosis skin test. Unless there is documentation that the staff have completed at least 6 months of preventive therapy the staff shall be required to obtain within 45 calendar days of employment a chest x-ray result and a physicians

statement that the incumbent does not have tuberculosis and has not been under regular care and monitoring for tuberculosis. A chest x-ray within the prior 6 months is acceptable. The physicians statement shall be renewed annually.

WorkEnvironment:

This job will be primarily located at the CLAREMATRIX facilities in Santa Monica California. This job is primarily in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. May be exposed to airborne particles bodily fluids infectious diseases chemical substances and varying noise levels. Must be able to work in a variety of settings including office environments and clinical areas. The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic. The work requires the ability to work in a confined area. The work environment may involve exposure to participants experiencing challenging behaviors including occasional acts of aggression. May be required to travel between locations as applicable. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods when necessary. While performing the responsibilities of the job the work environment characteristics are representative of the environment the job holder will accommodation may be made to enable people with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
