Are you passionate about inclusive education and supporting learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Do you have the leadership skills to coordinate a dynamic team and drive high-quality support across a diverse college environment

Tyne Coast College is seeking two dedicated Learning Support Team Leaders to join our Additional Learning Support (ALS) team. This is a pivotal role in ensuring learners with SEND receive tailored effective support that enables them to thrive.

About the Role

As Learning Support Team Leader you will:

  • Coordinate and manage Learning Support Assistants and Communication Support Workers.
  • Lead on timetabling staffing forecasts and budget planning.
  • Monitor and improve support delivery ensuring compliance and quality.
  • Oversee medication administration and accessibility equipment.
  • Develop and deliver training for support staff and awareness sessions for college-wide staff.
  • Collaborate with SEND Advisors and curriculum teams to promote inclusive learning.
  • Represent the ALS department in internal and external meetings.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and development of the Learning Support provision.

What Were Looking For

Were looking for someone with:

  • Extensive and current knowledge of SEND including neurodiversity and mental health.
  • Proven experience in inclusive education and supporting learners with complex needs.
  • Strong leadership organisational and communication skills.
  • GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C or above).
  • A commitment to safeguarding equality and continuous improvement.

Desirable qualifications and experience include:

  • Level 4 or higher in Supporting Teaching and Learning SEND or Inclusion.
  • Specialist training in autism ADHD mental health or speech and language.
  • Knowledge of ALS and FE funding mechanisms.
