Lead Platform Engineer, Samsung Ads

Position Summary

Role and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Lead a team of engineers to design implement and deploy production-grade DSP and reporting systems with measurable business impact.
• Architecture & Design: Define scalable high-performance architectures for data pipelines reporting APIs and platform services.
• Cross-Functional & Cross-Site Collaboration: Partner with Product Data and ML teams across multiple global engineering sites (e.g. MTV SRIB SRPOL HQ) to translate business goals into technical roadmaps ensure architectural alignment and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Data Engineering: Work with data engineering teams to develop and optimize large-scale data ingestion transformation and analytics pipelines.
• Product Reliability: Ensure platform reliability and operational excellence through automation monitoring and proactive system health checks.
• Mentorship: Provide technical mentorship and foster a culture of code quality performance and innovation.
• Rapid Prototyping: Develop quick prototypes and proofs of concept to validate new ideas and accelerate innovation.
• External Collaboration: Engage with technology partners and vendors to integrate advanced data and reporting tools into the Samsung Ads ecosystem.

Skills and Qualifications

Qualifications

• Masters or PHD degree in Computer Science Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred or equivalent practical experience with a proven record of building and leading large-scale distributed systems (8 years).
• Proficiency in GoLang required; Python and Java preferred; Scala nice to have.
• Strong experience with big data technologies such as Snowflake Hadoop Spark MapReduce and SQL.
• Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow).
• Strong understanding of data modeling distributed systems and software engineering best practices.
• Working knowledge of statistical methods and data-driven performance analysis.
• Excellent communication collaboration and technical leadership skills with a track record of cross-functional and cross-site influence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or equivalent.
• Background in digital advertising programmatic DSP systems or real-time bidding (RTB) environments.
• Experience with streaming data systems such as Kafka Flink or Kinesis.
• Prior involvement in large-scale reporting data warehousing or ad measurement systems.
