About the role

We are looking for an employee who has exceptional interpersonal communication skills and have the ability to create a favorable impression for the organization to all staff patients and the public. Must have a strong sense of team commitment which includes punctuality and excellent follow through. Duties involve checking patients in and out for diagnostic procedures and labs verifying patient demographics and insurance information and collecting money.

Supervision Received:Reports to Manager of Diagnostics

Supervision Exercised:None.

Typical Physical Demands:Requires sitting for long periods of time. Working in office environment. Some bending and stretching required. Working under stress and use of telephone and fax required. Manual dexterity required for use of computer keyboard.

Typical Working Conditions:Frequent exposure to communicable diseases toxic substances and other conditions common to a clinic environment.Involves frequent contact with staff patients and the public.

Responsibilities:(This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)

  1. Greet and direct patients.
  2. Enter and/or verify patient demographics and insurance information at check in process.
  3. Locate diagnostic/lab orders in EMR Link.
  4. Enter patient information and lab tests in Orchard release stored orders to generate labels that are sent to lab.
  5. Add new outside providers and facilities in Orchard.
  6. Collect payment from the patient when indicated.
  7. Check out patient and prepare encounter tickets for batch scanning to coding department.
  8. Complete orders in AthenaFlow.
  9. Delete duplicate and no show orders in EMR link.
  10. Answer multiple line telephones.
  11. Maintain reference files with outside orders.
  12. Fax lab reports to other offices for home health hospice and reference doctors.
  13. Assign diagnostic codes for lab work when needed.
  14. Cover Radiology Reception desk when needed.
  15. Keep area neat and orderly.
  16. Able to begin each day at 7:15/8:30am and end at 4:30/5:30pm.
  17. Work as a contributing member of a team to keep departments running smoothly.
  18. Attend In-Service education staff meetings and other continuing education programs to maintain optimal technical/operational knowledge.
  19. Adhere to department and company policies.
  20. Attend safety classes and compliance training as offered by Physicians East P.A.
  21. Perform related work as required.
  22. Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with appropriate professional conduct and Physicians Easts HIPPA program.
  23. Assist with other duties or projects as needed.

Location & commitments

Permanent FT role based at our Greenville Arlington location Monday-Friday 6:45-3:45a.m. 7:15-4:15p.m. and 8:30-5:30p.m.

Overtime may be required to ensure patients are taken care tasks are completed and calls are returned in a timely manner.

Weekend work is rare but can occasionally be necessary.

Candidate requirements:High School Diploma or Equivalent; Two-year degree preferred; computer experience required; medical office experience preferred; phlebotomy experience preferred; familiarity with diagnostic and laboratory orders/testing preferred. Must have strong computer software skills. Demonstrated proficiency with software applications such as NextGen Centricity and/or related.
