Job Summary

LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL

Dept/Div: Human Services/Behavioral Health FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

General Definition of Work

This position will serve residents of Le Sueur County who are uninsured and/or underinsured and in need of mental health services. Services include in-home family therapy individual therapy Needs Assessments Diagnostic Assessments clinical supervision for Targeted Case Management cases in Childrens and Adult Mental Health units and group clinical supervision in Childrens and Adult Team Meetings. This position may also provide clinical supervision for employees under certain licensure requirements. Work is performed under the general direction of the Social Services Supervisor.

Essential Functions

  • Provides in-office and in-home therapy for a small caseload. The majority of referrals will come from the Childrens Unit (Childrens Mental Health Child Protection) and Adult Mental Health Unit. Therapy services may involve evening hours. Case consultations will occur with both units for purposes of progress and updates.
  • Provides individual therapy in-office/in-home for residents who have serious and persistent mental health issues.
  • Provides consultation to adult and child services teams regarding diagnosis treatment and team goals by attending team meetings. Provides clinical or case consultations to coworkers as scheduled or requested. Acts as a resource for colleagues.
  • Provides clinical supervision to Adult and Childrens Mental Health units in the development of treatment plans for Targeted Case Management.
  • Conducts Needs Assessments for Le Sueur County residents upon request. This includes social histories of individuals and families to identify emotional social and environmental strengths and problems concluding with a recommendation of needed services to improve overall level of functioning.
  • Conducts Diagnostic Assessments as requested by Adult Mental Health and Childrens Mental Health case managers to determine eligibility for Rule 79 Case Management.
  • Conducts new employee assessments for Le Sueur County Jail/Sheriffs Department and other local law enforcements agencies within Le Sueur County as requested.
  • Attends regular conferences and in-service training sessions. Attend trainings to maintain licensure through your respective MN Board.
  • Provides clinical supervision for social workers pursuing clinical social work licensure and case consultation for social workers and paraprofessionals performing social work functions individually or as part of a team.
  • Maintains accurate and timely case records in accordance with federal state local and departmental and professional guidelines. Maintains log of therapy sessions and clients progress and records essential information in clients record.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge and a clear ability to communicate the findings of psychological examinations to clients and families professional associates agency staff and other interested persons. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing keep detailed records and create comprehensive reports.
  • Thorough knowledge of counseling theory and individual group and family treatment techniques. Knowledge of current developments and trends in the field of psychology. Knowledge of standard psychological tests. Knowledge of the methods and procedures used in the administration of psychological examinations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the laws rules regulations policies procedures and techniques used in the diagnostic evaluation and treatment process.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state mandate and local procedure and regulations relating to psychology; skill operating a standard vehicle; skill using of computer equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people from varying mental social and economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with associates parents children with disabilities administrators community agencies and the general public.
  • Ability to understand and complete electronic timecard; process vehicle maintenance reports.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of standard office equipment and software and standard accounting software.
  • Ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates ratios and percentages
  • Ability to understand and apply governmental accounting practices in maintenance of financial records

Education and Experience

Masters degree from an accredited college or university in psychology or related field and considerable experience working as a therapist conducting assessments diagnosis and treatment and leadership guidance or combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements

This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting and speaking or hearing frequently requires using hands to finger handle or feel and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing walking reaching with hands and arms pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data operating machines operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office light traffic).

Special Requirements

Minnesota licensure in the respected field such as Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) Licensed Gradate Social Worker (LGSW) Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Licensed Psychologist (LP). Ability to maintain licensure through ongoing continuing education. Work with Adults with Serious and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI); Child & Family Cases within Childrens Mental Health and Child Protection units; Residents of Le Sueur County that request a Needs Assessment; New employees of Le Sueur County Jail and Law Enforcement Agencies. Valid drivers license in the State of Minnesota.

The incumbent may encounter not public data in the course of these duties. Any access to not public data should be strictly limited to accessing the data that are necessary to fulfill the employment responsibility. While data are being accessed incumbent should take reasonable measures to ensure the not public data are not accessed by individuals without a work reason. Once the work reason to access the data is reasonably finished incumbent must properly store the not public data according to the provisions Ch. 13. If a new work assignment requires access to not public data the incumbent is permitted to access not public data for the work assignment purposes only. Any access to not public data must be strictly limited to the data necessary to complete the work assignment and after the assignment is completed the employees work assignment no longer requires access.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Masters degree from an accredited college or university in psychology or related field and considerable experience working as a therapist conducting assessments diagnosis and treatment and leadership guidance or combination of education and experience.

2. Valid Drivers License in the State of Minnesota.

Salary/Benefits:Starting wage is $37.46 per hour plus health insurance life insurance retirement plan vacation/sick/holiday pay and many other voluntary benefits.

Salary Range: $37.46 - $53.00.
