At Traila we are dedicated to shaping the future of rail transport through cutting-edge technology. Since our founding in 2017 we have been driven by a passion for sustainability and excellence. We believe that rail transport is a cornerstone of a greener future and our mission is to make it quieter more efficient and more reliable. Our talented team is at the heart of this mission and we are looking for a skilled System Engineer to join us in making a tangible impact on the world.
Role Overview
As System Engineer youll drive the development and integration of advanced rail systems from concept to validation. Youll translate functional requirements into technical solutions ensure subsystem interoperability and guarantee that every system meets our safety performance and reliability standards.
-System Architecture & Requirements: Define and manage system and subsystem requirements ensuring full traceability and alignment with project and safety standards.
-Subsystem Integration: Coordinate integration of control mechanical and electrical subsystems; manage interfaces and interdependencies across domains.
-Functional Safety & Risk Management: Conduct technical risk assessments (HARA FMEA FTA) and support compliance with EN 50126/8/9 and SIL processes.
-Verification & Validation: Lead verification activities and system-level testing; support field validation and fault analysis during prototype and service phases.
-Configuration & Change Management: Control baselines document interfaces and evaluate design modifications through impact analysis.
-Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering team as well as external partners and suppliers in compliance with our IRIS QM standards and system.
Additional Contributions
-Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with rail and safety standards through rigorous validation and structured processes.
-Degree in Systems Engineering Electrical Engineering or a related field.
-6 years of experience in system or subsystem integration ideally in rail automotive or aerospace.
-Strong understanding of systems engineering processes (requirements verification validation safety).
-Familiarity with functional safety concepts and standards (EN 50126/8/9 ISO 26262).
-Proficiency with requirements & modelling tools (e.g. DOORS Polarion Enterprise Architect Simulink SysML).
-Working knowledge of communication protocols (EtherCAT CAN/CANopen TCP/IP).
-Solid technical documentation and analytical skills.
-Fluent in English; German is a plus.
