- Shift: 12-hr Variable
- Job Type: Permanent
- Guaranteed Hours: (36 hours/week)
- Compensation: Based on experience (Negotiable)
Job Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist (RRT) coordinates and delivers high-quality patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with departmental requirements scope of practice and state regulations. As an integral member of the patient care team the RRT performs diagnostic tests therapeutic procedures and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform and document patient assessments including breath sounds airway patency and cuff pressure.
- Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for and response to respiratory therapy.
- Administer respiratory care therapies such as oxygen delivery aerosol medication delivery and chest physiotherapy.
- Assist with placement of artificial airways.
- Initiate monitor and maintain mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patients for therapeutic response and notify the provider/intervene as needed in the event of unintended responses.
- Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
- Respond to emergent patient situations ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation.
Required Qualifications:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) credential.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start.
- Associate Degree or Vocational School graduate in Respiratory Therapy.
