Job Summary
The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (Cath Lab Tech) works under general supervision to assist physicians during catheterization and electrophysiology (EP) lab procedures. The role involves preparing the procedure room and equipment instructing and monitoring patients and providing both routine and emergency care during invasive cardiac procedures. The Cath Lab Tech also contributes to staff training orientation and quality assurance initiatives including daily monthly and quarterly audits and reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist physicians during cardiac catheterization EP and vascular procedures.
- Prepare rooms equipment and instruments for invasive procedures.
- Monitor patients condition and vital signs before during and after procedures.
- Provide emergency and routine patient care as needed.
- Maintain sterile field and ensure compliance with infection control standards.
- Document procedural data accurately in patient records.
- Participate in staff education orientation and competency training.
- Support quality control auditing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Associates Degree OR 2 years of equivalent work experience beyond the minimum qualification.
Experience:
- 2 years of experience in Cath EP or Vascular Lab preferred.
- Cross-training: Willing to train Interventional Radiology (IR) technologists.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Required within 30 days of hire/transfer:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- One of the following credentials required:
- ARRT-R (Radiography) and MRT (Texas)
- RCIS Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist
- RCES Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist
- CEPS Certified Electrophysiology Specialist
- CCDS Certified Cardiac Device Specialist
