The Opportunity
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor the Maintenance Person 2 is responsible for ensuring the efficient turnaround time on vacant units and carrying out material and equipment installations renovations repairs and servicing in the following areas - carpentry plumbing heating electrical painting and ventilation on properties under the jurisdiction of Cape Breton District.
What youll do
Responsibilities
- Carry out material and equipment installations renovations repairs and servicing in the following areas - carpentry plumbing heating basic electrical painting and ventilation.
- Carry out assessment and preventative maintenance to all assigned buildings appliances fixtures utilities and equipment in accordance with established standards policies and procedures.
- Maintain properties under the jurisdiction of the Cape Breton District including walks driveways and parking areas drainage systems curbs and gutters swales culverts manholes catch basins etc.
- Prepare and complete documentation such as work orders vehicle reports maintenance logs inspection reports and inventory records.
- Repair vacant units to make them rent-ready.
- Operate motor vehicles motorized equipment and power tools used in the trade.
What youll need
Qualifications
Must Have
- Grade 12 or equivalent plus five years experience in building and property maintenance or a related field. Must be able to perform basic tasks in carpentry plumbing heating electrical painting and drywall.
- Ability to operate electrical and mechanical tools and equipment.
- Ability to perform physical tasks using good body mechanics.
- Knowledge of residential building technology basic knowledge of National Building Code and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Nice to Have
- Emergency First Aid and WHMIS certifications.
- Knowledge of computer systems is beneficial.
The Fine Print
An equivalent combination of training education and experience may be considered.
This position requires a valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle. Travel within CBRM is required.
