Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Florida drivers license.
- Valid Florida commercial drivers license (CDL) or the ability to obtain:
- Class B;
- Passenger vehicle endorsement (P);
- Air brakes endorsement;
- Tank vehicle endorsement (N);
- Hazardous materials endorsement (H).
- Valid Florida Department of Education School Bus Safety Inspector Certificate or the ability to obtain.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification.
- Two years of experience as a mechanic.
Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of policies procedures and regulations pertaining to the position.
- Knowledge of HIPAA Public Records Sunshine Law FERPA and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy public information and records retention.
- Knowledge of industry-standard equipment materials practices computers and applications.
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of staff faculty students and the community in a service-oriented environment.
- Ability to comply with the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse requirements.

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Proficiently follow vehicle manufacturers service manuals to conduct vehicle safety inspections and execute minor repairs.
- Collaborate effectively with fellow shop personnel to ensure prompt repairs of the Districts vehicles.
- Conduct monthly inspections on all District vehicles as required and promptly prepare corresponding inspection reports.
- Operate service vehicles and transport fuel to provide emergency roadside assistance to buses and other vehicles and equipment as required.
- Maintain a tidy and organized workspace adhering to stringent safety protocols.
- Register with the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.
- Maintain current driver and CDL licenses with all necessary endorsements.
- Follow department directives and adhere to School Board policies as instructed.
- Any job-related duties as assigned.
