Job Summary:

The Department of Neurosurgery currently seeks a Neurosurgeon at the Assistant or Associate Professor of Clinical Practice level to join the Neurosurgery Community Based Team. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position which will include teaching clinical research and service responsibilities. The position will work closely with other neurosurgeons to build and cover the Neurosurgical community practice sites.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as a member of neurosurgery community team to build and cover the neurosurgical community practices

See patients in clinic to review their case and determine suitability for surgery

Perform neurosurgery procedures on patients as determined by your medical/surgical expertise

Work with the Community Based Team to attain quality metrics set by Dept of Neurosurgery

Maintain all training certifications licensing to be up to date and able to practice

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located at one of our community practices in the southern or northern Front Range area.

Our Department has very specialized surgeons and programs with expertise in Neuro-Spine Endovascular Neurosurgery Skull-Based/Tumor Functional and Stereotactic Neuro ICU and Neuropsychology. We also offer an ACGME approved residency program in Neurosurgery that offers 2 to 3 resident opportunities every other year. One-year fellowships are offered in all our specialties for advanced training. We have increased our research operations with 19 new grants in FY24 totaling over $1 Million dollars in new funding dollars in FY24 and are hoping to expand these endeavors over the next 3-5 years. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Assistant Professor:

  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurosurgery
  • Graduate of an American Board of Neurological Surgery residency program
  • Maintains or is eligible for Colorado State Medical License

Associate Professor:

  • MD or DO
  • Board certified in Neurosurgery
  • Graduate of an American Board of Neurological Surgery residency program
  • Maintains or is eligible for Colorado State Medical License
  • Experience in a general neurosurgery practice

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ample clinical experience and/or fellowship training in spine
  • Comfort with general cranial procedures and cranial surgical decision making including but not limited to trauma some tumors VP shunts Chiari malformations etc.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other physicians and staff at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability with capacity for program building.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor: $548648-$700000

Associate Professor: $673328-$792150

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
